Chelsea FC has arrived in Israel late on Sunday amidst security concerns in the region, and will face Israeli champion Maccabi Tel Aviv a Champion's League match on Tuesday.

The match, which will take place in Haifa’s new Sami Ofer stadium is key for Chelsea it’s race to advancement from Group G to the last 16 and The Blues will search for a victory against a Maccabi team which has yet to gain points in the Champions League, but was able to score its first goal two weeks ago against Porto in Tel Aviv.

A draw can be enough for the British club, If Dynamo loses on the road to Porto in Portugal.

Chelsea beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 4-0 in the team’s first meeting in Stamford Bridge in September and are currently second in their Champions League group, after Porto.

“Tomorrow is simple: if we lose, we are in trouble. If we lose we depend on other results. If we get a draw we can qualify in the last game, but we cannot be first. If we win, maybe we qualify tomorrow and we have a big chance to finish first. We need points tomorrow. We are playing to qualify so the game is more important for us”, said manager Jose Mourinho in Monday’s press conference in Tel Aviv.

Before the team’s departure to Tel Aviv, the UK government published a warning concerning trips to Israel due to what they termed a "high threat of terrorism”.

“The best way is to focus on football. The responsibility you have is to play football and leave the security questions to those that know more than we do. I didn’t have one problem. I have everyone without fears wanting to come”, said the Portuguese manager.

"I have everybody without fears, just wanting to come. I even have a player that tomorrow his wife can have a baby and he is here to play because he knows how important it is for me”, he added.

"You just rely on people who know a hell of a lot more than me about the whole situation to make sensible decisions," said Chelsea defender Gary Cahill on Sunday. "We have played in the right manner against France on the international stage and the security was fantastic from what we saw, so the decision was right. For our trip to Israel you rely on people who know more than us and they ultimately make the decisions."
